A2 Pre-Lim Promo Evaluation

For our A-2 Pre-lim task we shot a music video for the up and coming band "Acres Of Life" with their song "Doctors Vs Cupid". We were only given half an hour to shot for the opening minute of the song, and then a couple of hours to edit. In the morning of shooting and editing I learnt a lot and will help a huge amount when it comes to the real thing.
Before the day of the shoot we listed all the shots and a plan and we drew a storyboard. As the video was going to be based around the performance element, we decided on focusing on all the band members and of all the instruments. We decided to focus on the vocalist the most as he is the key member of the band and therefore we gave him the most screen time. On the storyboards we started of with a Wide Shoot as it would be a good introductory shot as they are a new band, we also finished on a wide shoot as we wanted to create fluidity between the three different sections of the song.
In my group there were four. We all worked well together and took on board all of our opinions. On the day we drifted away from our storyboard and our plan due to the time pressure we had. So we had to use the time as effectively as possible which I feel we did.
When editing we were taught that it is much easier and quicker to sync all our clips up and put them all ontop of eachother and then go through each clip and cut up the bits you like or dislike. Oce this was done we managed to have a rough cut which looked alright and then we spent another hour being more precise and detailed to put the finishing touches to try and make it look as good as possible. As the music was up temp and slightly manic we used plenty of quick cuts to reflect the music.
