It is good what has been posted, but does not completely evaluate the process, in particular you need to give more attention to the concept f your audience and any potential feedback they could offer.  Well presented in terms of what has been blogged.

CD Poster & Digi-Pack

When coming up with ideas for our poster, we decided that it needed to focus on the leading artist and that it had to relate in some way or another to the digi-pack. So we thought of doing something similar to Andy-Warhol in a pop art style. Although this turned out for the better for the CD Digi-Pack It didn't seem to suit the poster.
We then came up with a stylased idea of having plenty of shapes scattered around the image with different shades of black & white. This idea would have a modern twist on it against the 1920's costume.

After drawing up sketches of these ideas this is what we came up with (Below). We felt it was a nice juxtaposing poster, and felt it was eye-catching and very original.

here we have experimented with different medias, i have started with air brushing and enhancing areas such as eyes, hair etc. I then decided to try different areas of the image in black and white squares, this was to convey the ideas of the art deco that they had in the 20's as well as the modernising of an old song to reflect the poster.

I started with a colored image or georgina that I air brushed and enhanced the eyes etc, Then I selected different areas of the image with the select tool and changed the hues, saturations and brightness of the different parts.

We then decided to repeat this process but use colour to make it more modern. This turned out looking great as a series of posters.

Digi-Pack Treatment

For our CD pack we had a several ideas that we tried out using photoshop, to cut and edit.

IDEA ONE

The first idea was of using a different image for the front and back covers. The first image would show the main singer only, we wanted this picture to be a close up with her in her 1920's costume and hair and make up to show what to except in the music. It would be edited using photoshop to manipulate the colour and make it look more like an old photograph rather than a CD cover. The name of our artist would appear vertically down the side of the front cover in a fancy red font.

The back cover would be a photo of the main singer and the 4 dancers, this would be on the set of the video with the pillars in the background to add sophistication to the image. We would write the track names vertically down one of the pillars in a red or black font, this would contrast with the older style and colours of the image.

The middle page would show the lyrics of the song on a plain black background, the text would be in red font.

IDEA 2

Our second idea would use the image of the front cover from the previous treatment, except the colouring would be different, we would make the image more like Andy Warholes pop art of Marilyn Monroe. Then for the back cover we would use the same image but again change its colouring, this would occur through each face of the pack. This idea came from a Michael Jackson album cover that we happened to stumble across whilst searching for ideas.

Aftere photoshopping both of these ideas we felt that the second idea/popart suited our themes more. And it looked more proffessional. I felt that the composition was also more attractive. The idea was also something we could maybe put through into the poster.

Feedback

There are some sound entries here and good reflection on the shoot day.   The use of photo's from the day are excellent, but could have been presented in a much better way as a slideshow or other presentation - this is an area for development to consider.
Also can you slightly reevaluate this and link your comments to that of production - consider film direction, set design, how the MV was shot etc - be as precise as possible with this and please post your CD design.
Nonetheless this excellent in aspect's - I do feel that you should fully evaluate the digipak.

Digi-Pack designs

After spending a long time editing photos we then came up with several Digi-pack design ideas. This was the one that we were all the most keen on.

The inspiration came from Andy Warhol & Michael Jackson's Album Invincible. Both of these ideas we filtered ino our original ideas and the digi-pack is the final product that appeared at the end of this development stages.

We merged these two pieces of material and fused both of them with our original ideas and came up with a unique album artwork. I think it is simple yet effective and clearly markets our artist.

Account Of Shoot Day (2nd November)

On Tuesday 2nd November was our shoot for our pop music video. The day before we placed the set in the studio, gathered all the costumes, collected all our props and painted the set. This planning reassured me when walking into the studio on the Tuesday morning knowing that everything was carefully planned and placed were it should be.

We gathered the cast and crew and got everyone into their fitted costumes and started rehearsing with them to make them less nervous when it would come to shooting. We also told them our plans for the day so they knew when and where to be on the set throughout the shoot. Before we started shooting we looped the track so that our cast we were going to use first (Tunde & Ben) could practice and go over what they had rehearsed. When we began to start shooting they felt uncomfortable with the camera. After a while, we managed to get them to relax by reassuring they were doing a good job, which they certainly were. It was great to see them go from strength to strength from then on in.

As we needed only Ben & Tunde in the morning we let our leading cast member (Georgina) out and told here to come back to the set at a specific time. We had scheduled a trumpet player to arrive at 11:30 to shoot some abstract shots of him against a green screen. And arriving at 10:50 was Connor, who was going to be doing a contrasting dance against a green screen. So we needed to get as much use out of Tunde & Ben as possible. By 10:20 we had managed to get wide shots, mid shots, and close up shots of the dancers (Ben & Tunde). So we had an extra half hour to use Ben & Tunde. We decided then to do more whacky shots, which involved doing extreme close ups and panning around the dancers. After getting plenty of interesting footage of Ben & Tunde Connor arrived in his costume.

As a last minute idea we gave him a cane, which we asked him in some way to involve in his dance. As this footage we were going to shoot of Connor was going to be shown in a silhouette we asked him to make his dancing as large as possible so that it would show up in silhouette. To show Connor's characters status we shot up at him. We managed to get a nice amount of shots showing Connor dancing. A few of my favourites included; A close up of Connor's feet because it is energetic, which relates to the music. Another shot, which was one of my favourites of the day was when conner by mistake threw his cane across the studio. At the time it was a mistake but when we come to editing we thought how in post-production we could reverse it to create an illusion.

As we finished with Connor the time was 11:25. We decided to have a 5 minute coffee break as we all had been working hard. at 11:30 we got back to the set and Miles (our trumpet player) was in his costume with his trumpet. We gave him the track the day before so he knew how the tune goes and he knew when to play. We shoot Close Ups, Mid Shots and Wide Shoots. To create a variety of shots we had him standing facing to the left, right and straight on. As this would work well in silhouette. Everything we shoot with miles was shot in front of the green screen.

After we had breaked for lunch we set up the set for the afternoon, which consisted of wide stairs and large white columns.
We then started to shoot the opening sequence of the track, which involved the Backing Dancers. We had choreographed them earlier on so they knew what they were doing and when in the track. We did a tracking shot for this section. We focused up on the backing dancers and then tracked forward to reveal Georgina. This was possibly one of my favourite shots of the day. But was took a lot of time to get right.

After this we had to shot Georgina singing the old fashioned sections of the track. This was quick to shot as Georgina was comfortable with the camera. We then had one more tracking shot to do, to show Georgina walking across the set. This was particularly difficult as we had to track at the right speed so she would stay in the right place in the frame.

When finished shooting this tracking shot it was a wrap!

This is sound work - there are evident clear accounts of your planning and research for your music video production day after half term.  I

The evaluation of the animatic requires more detail - see the notes you were provided with.  If anything when you evaluate, try to add more to your comments - otherwise this looks too concise in it's approach.

There are one or two ways to develop the blog.  First to begin using a wider range of blogging tools, if you can - there are lots of well presented images, but use of Flickr or powerpoint will increase the creativity that is shown on your blog.

Second the valid, detailed and reflective comments that you make need to be developed further with  key media concepts and theoretical ideas;  for example, link the planning to star image,  or how set design and lighting link to mise en scene and/ or what model's of lighting you are using in relation to your set - key, fill, directional, discuss the intensity and colour and what you are trying to represent about your artist.  You do this in part, but again not in enough reflective detail .
This will help make a more thorough evaluation of your work.
Well done.

Set & Lighting

We had to think up some set and lighting designs for our music video and came up with the following to fit our idea and the concept we had:

We thought that our ZOETROBE would look a little bit like this. we wanted to make it work

Zoetrobe

Our main problem with the idea was our main message about how black music has influenced our music today was becoming difficult because we were struggling on finding people appropriate to play the parts as the cast would have to be able to play the instruments and be of the right race.

So we decided to think about the idea of using images of Black music legends and introduce them into our video using a cool way to present them. A ZOETROBE. This would enable us to try and create moving images of stars that have influenced music into our video aswell as using our own castings to show other aspects for example DJ’s and Dancing. Artists like Louis Armstrong, stevie Wonder and George Walker.

Here is a clip of a traditional Zoetrobe.

This example shows how the ZOETROBE works when we see the flickering and not when we see the images spin without the break between the two different images, enabling us to differentiate subconsciously and see a moving bird.

This is another idea of how to present a ZOETROBE within a music video. The images repeat around a song and a video.

Sony created the largest one in the world that i belived to be the most impressive of all of the ones i looked up and researched. it was smooth and looked alot like an acxtual film, althouogh we want to have our Zoetrobe looking old and authentic i used this as a good referance towards our idea.

Costumes

1920's elaborate/expensive/illusive dress (central character)inc. hat. - this shows her to be slightly spoilt and of a high status which helps to portrey our intended characterization.

2 lower class working outfits - these will be used to highlight the difference between the lower class men and the upper class man

Upper class gentlemen’s suit - will show he is superior to most others in society

Prop List

Double bass - for the band as it features heavily in the song

Trumpet - for the band as it features heavily in the song

Trombone - for the band as it features heavily in the song

A platform - For the dancers and the band to be used in silhouette to add height and distinction to these

DJ Decks - to show the contrast between old fashioned gramaphones and modern DJ decks and to show how music has changed over the century.

A gramophone – 20’s styled - to show what old music was played on, it also adds a cool shot and contrasts with the modern decks used later on in the video.

Old fashioned microphone – 20’s styles - it matches the style of the song and the era we are trying to portrey

A Zoetrobe (possible) - this adds cool effects and allows us to be more free with the images we use of African American artists from the past instead of having to recreate these images with a cast who won't fit with the intended images.

Cast List

Georgina Morton - 1920's woman

Tunde Ogundare - Working Class man / dancer
Ben Ikanade-Agba - Working Class man / dancer
Connor Vickery - Upper class man / dancer
Glen Pegado - Working Class man / dancer

Our original idea included:
Lizzy ward thomas - Band
Bella Neal - Band
Bethany Quinn - Band

Storyboard Animatic

When we had come up with ou initial idea, we then began to storyboard and come up with an interesting narrative and performance aspect of the music video.
We came up with ideas ranging from sillhouettes to quickly cut and rewinding footage, which we felt would all contribute to the music video and pushing it in the direction we were all hoping to go in.
Half way through storyboarding we started to feel that our idea was to far fetched.

Charlie your response is proficeintand you have been creative with your blogs, I particularly like the use of lauout and design of your blog.  Do try and be as academic in your entries as possible - use lots of examples and apply key concepts. Your clearly identify your target audience and have profiled them well.  Good research into CD covers and you have a wide range of examples, and this would be developed further if you can link the real product to how it will influence your own designs.

Design Of Digipak (RENEY)

Similar Artists Album Artwork

PEGGY LEE:

Peggy Lee performed the original 'Why Don't You Do Right' in the late 20's early 30's.

The artwork is focused on Peggy Lee and her image. It doesnt just capture her face but also captures her chest. This could suggest that it is also trying to reach out to a male audience. The artwork is classy which portrays her personality (Diva). The font is also classy, which portrays the classy and 'sophisticated' classic and original music.

MICHAEL BUBLE:

Michael Buble appears to a young and old audience as his music replicates old fashioned music, which is in fashion.

The artwork is similar to Peggy Lee's and Focuses on Michael Buble as they need to portray his image. The font is also classy, which portrays his classy brass and orchestral driven music. From the artwork we can tell the album isnt going to be pop as it looks serious and the colours are dark and faded and mainly because Michael Buble is sporting a Suit.

Institutional Context Of our Artist (RENEY)

Reney would be signed to a minor record label as Techno Swing has a niche audience.

'Why Don't You Do Right' is in the similar to the style to the famous recently released hit track 'We No Speak Americano'. This was released in 2010 and used samples of an original italian song. It was released under the independent label Sweat It Out. I think our artist Reney would work well with a respected independent label with a few smash hits uinder its belt.

The song 'We No Speak Americano' is similar style to 'Why Don't You Do Right'

The indipendent record label Sweat It Out is a good choice because of its previous succesful releases it has the attention of larger labels in the industry and also radio labels and TV stations.

Another label which I thought would be suitable for our artist is Hoxton Whores. They are an independent Proggressive Rock label in London. They also specialise in Mixes which would be suitable as our artist Reney's music are mainly remixed old songs.

                  RENEY'S TARGET AUDIENCE

Our arget audience = younger generations (16-30).
We choose this audience as the music appeals to a younger audience as it is up tempo and electronic. Also the image portrayed will appeal to the male audience aswell as the female audience.
Through our Music Video ideas we are hoping to portray a classy image of Reney so it could also appeal to the middle and upper class. I would say our main targer audience is mainly girls 16-30 and middle class.

The music could also appeal to nightclubs, which would widen the audience.
The older generations 30 +, might not be to keen with Reney as they are remixes of original old fashioned classic hits, and that they have been changed. This might be a negative for some.

Researching Ideas For "Why Don't You Do It Right"

When we were thinking of the performance aspect. We thought it would be good to have male dancers. So I decided to go and research and remembered that I had recently seen the "This Is It" film by Michael Jackson and the intro to Smooth Criminal was something similar to what we wanted to create.
I like the period costumes used in the video and they also used silhouettes in another similar video.

We as a group are really keen on shooting something something similar to this images as they are really dramatic.

Music Video Treatment

After discussing and collecting all of our ideas, we all seemed to be most keen on the 1920's Theme.
We weren't to impressed with the song which we were close to choosing which was "Singing In The Rain" by Mint Royale. While browsing for other 1920 songs we came across "Why Don't You Do Right" by Peggy Lee, which was a 2010 remix which fitted perfectly with our idea of the 1920's.
The beginning of "Why Don't You Do Right" is slow and in the 1920's style and then the tempo is increased and there is an obvious change from old fashioned to modern. At the beginning during the old fashioned section, we thought of having two black men shining white mens shoes (typical 1920's), and then when the modern section is introduced they will both mix to show the racial contrast between the 1920's and the current day.
We were thinking of shooting the Music Video in Black and White and then have a few shoots of the lead vocalists in B&W with red lipstick.
We also want to include a Narrative element into the video, but we are still discussing on were to take it.

Initial Ideas for MUSIC VIDEO

We have just been allocated to our groups, I am in a group which has four of us in. All of us have similar ideas about what we should do for the videos.

THESE ARE A FEW INITIAL IDEAS

1.) An old fashioned music video (1920's) juxtaposed against a modern remix of a period song. We felt this would be original and that it has potential. We also thought it would be nice to bring in a dance element to the music video and were thinking of having the dancers wearing traditional suits and bowler hats, similar to the photo below (Charlie Chaplin).
When thinking about this idea, we came up with a song by "Mint Royale" which is a remix of the classic "Singing In The Rain".
This song was first shown for a Volkswagen Car Advert, and then was made famous by a "Britain's Got Talent" contestant. After listening to it and observing it, we all decided as we needed to be promoting an artist and creating a star image, this song would not be ideal as there are no vocals. So we are still searching for another modern version of an old fashioned song which we would then be able to take the idea further, and into pre-production.

2.) Our other idea involved a darker and more edgy side to it. When researching Music Videos, I came across an up-and coming artist called Skylar Grey. She has just recently released 2 solo debut singles. They are two very contrasting songs and videos.
I really like the way this video has been edited. It is a fast paced video with lots of quick cuts and disturbing images, for example when Skylar Grey comes out of her previous body. I am really inspired by this video and think it would be a big challenge to make a dark and edgy music video similar to this.
The video below also by Skylar Grey is another video which I feel relates to a wide audience.
